Weekend Devotional

“…And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.” John 17:13

None of us have lived without sin. Koinonia is a great church, tremendous actually, but when you move past our diversity, past our wonderful music ministry, beyond our powerful teen and children’s ministries, through the excellent structure and beyond the anointed ministry of the Word, a common denominator is found. We are, simply, people who are seeking to serve the Lord and submit our lives, in their entirety, to Him. We each have flaws, sins, and multiple areas that need work. At times, the awareness of those things that we lack can be frightening, especially when you consider that the God we serve is thrice holy, and we are not completely. With this revelation in mind, this text literally becomes a truth and a promise, rolled into one, that creates supernatural joy for the born-again child of God. Here is the truth: The Father can keep us. Jesus said that He kept all of them, saved the son of perdition, Judas Iscariot, and then prayed that the Father would now continue that keeping (John 17:12). Beloved, we are being kept by the power of God. Jesus said that He was sharing these things because they would give us His joy. In spite of all that you might need to do and the areas that you are struggling with, the Father can and will keep you—and that is a powerful source of JOY.
